Results are summarized of 27 supplementary borings made in the planned location of the Shady Grove Service and Inspection Yard in Section A016a of Rockville Route, of the Washington Metropolitan Area Metro system. The borings were performed to investigate the various planned features of the yard, including the service and inspection shop building, yard track locations, conditions at crossing utilities and cut and fill operations. The report contains geological sections incorporating the new borings, logs of the borings, results of laboratory tests on soil samples obtained and a discussion of anticipated design and construction problems.
