Hybrid Technology has been successfully incorporated into passenger and commercial heavy vehicles. Seeing the success and evolution of hybrid technology, many Defense Organizations around the world are currently researching and developing hybrid prototypes of tracked combat vehicles to move into a new era of warfare equipment with less emissions, less fuel consumption, better performance, more power at disposal for weapons system and mobility of the vehicle. This paper is written as a stepping stone for organizations around the world which seek on this path towards hybrid military combat vehicles. This paper highlights the advantages of hybridization, describes widely used techniques and methods, gives alternatives to conventional drivetrain equipment and improvements over its mechanical counterparts, highlights the new technologies which are feasible and effective and can be used in the coming years. Two important cases are also presented for better data validation and understanding. Also few conclusions are made by the author for general adaptiveness of hybrid electric drive for various category and class tracked combat vehicles.
