This paper introduces a novel approach to single-phase power inversion with the switched inductor z-source dual output inverter (SL-ZS-DOI), addressing the limitations of classical Z-source inverters in terms of voltage adjustability. Unlike traditional designs, this inverter employs a switched inductor (SL) Z-source topology for effective coupling between the DOI and the power circuit. A brief period of shoot-through zero state suffices to achieve remarkable high voltage conversion ratios. The proposed topology allows for simultaneous and independent control of two distinct AC outputs in terms of frequency, phase angle, modulation index, and load, providing versatility for applications such as uninterruptible power supplies, electric vehicles, distributed energy systems, and hybrid renewable energy systems. The proposed topology adopts a modified sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique to generate shoot-through pulses for SL network and actual pulses for the dual-output operation. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the proposed topology is demonstrated with simulation results using MATLAB/SIMULINK tool to emphasize the versatility and independent dual operation. Finally, a comparative analysis is presented with existing dual-output topologies to highlight the features of the proposed topology.
