In this article, a new single-phase dual output z-source inverter is introduced for electric drive applications to control the two outputs independently in terms of modulation index, frequency, phase, and load with optimal device count. Due to coupling with a z-source impedance network, the proposed configuration can boost the supply voltage to meet the load requirements. Moreover, the comparative analysis is done with existing dual output topologies to show the limits and merits of the proposed inverter such as the switch count, passive components, cost, efficiency, etc. On the other hand, the modified sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique is implemented to generate both shoot-through pulses for z-source operation and actual pulses for a dual output operation. Furthermore, the validation of the proposed work is verified in MATLAB /SIMULINK software followed by real-time simulation through the OPAL-RT platform.
