Bird strikes are known since the time when birds and planes started occupying the same airspace. For a radar, birds are targets with very low Radar Cross Section (RCS) value. This paper deals with the theoretical analysis of the X-band Pulse-Doppler radar detection probability and the maximal detection ranges for birds. The X-band Doppler Radar is one of possibilities how to eliminate bird strikes. Birds’ flight dynamics and experimental results on birds’ detection is included in the paper.
