We report operational results obtained with our novel coherent Fourier-transform spectrometer (c-FTIR) that operates without any moving part and features a diffraction-limited, laser-like probe beam. First we demonstrate reliable, high-resolution performance by directly comparing 8-12/spl mu/m transmission spectra with those from conventional FTIR. Then, going far beyond conventional possibilities, we report taking spectra at a record repeat rate of 1000/s, and probing molecular atmospheric absorption over a path length of 44 m.
