This paper describes the successful application of the Silica-on-Terraced-Silicon (STS) platform to an opto-electronic hybrid integrated laser diode (LD) module, where a silica-waveguide, an LD chip, and an LD-driver integrated circuit are assembled on the STS-platform. Bit error rate measurement confirmed 2.5-Gb/s operation of the STS-platform with a coplanar waveguide.
