Launching technology with rocket booster is widely used in the launching process of UAV. In this paper, the process of short rail launch with rocket booster was divided into three phases. Through the force analysis of all the phases, a complete mechanical model of the whole launching process was established. Then the short rail launch of an UAV was taken as an example, and the influence of rocket installation angle, UAV emission angle and the effective length of short rail on launching process was analyzed, and the appropriate launching parameters were selected. After that, the attitude changes of UAV when the rocket thrust doesn’t pass through the center of gravity were obtained and compared with that of zero-length launching process. The results show that due to the constraint of short rail, the flight attitude variation range of UAV during the launching process is smaller than that of zero-length launch, which is more conducive to the launching safety.
