Escalation in requirement of involvement of solar energy in the total generated power in INDIA has made it mandatory to focus on the flaws that still hinder the path of large scale inclusion of solar energy. Thus in this paper, to enhance the performance of PV panels we firstly analyze various sort of faults prevailing in module related to bypass and blocking diodes under partially shaded and uniform condition. The hot spot occur due to the partial shading not only affect the total power generation of the solar system but also causes the multipeak point in the PV characteristics. The conventional techniques like P&O, incremental conductance etc fail to track the global maxima and hinge on the local maxima. Particle swarm optimization technique presents the viable solution for the above problem. So in this paper a comparative study between the PSO and P&O method is also done. All the results are performed on the MATLAB/Simulink software.
