It is important to measure travel time along each network link in order to optimize urban traffic signal control. Although floating car data can provide traveling time along road network precisely, using such on-car devices are not cost effective compared to infrastructure sensors. Therefore, we have developed a vision sensor which is able to measure travel time between the neighboring intersections, installing a single camera at each intersection. This vision sensor covers whole the area of an intersection, and it detects an image region of vehicle each by each, classifies vehicle types and colors, and perform DP-matching to the two sequences of vehicles between the neighboring intersections to identify the same vehicles.
