In assessing the options for DC powered trains to change over to operate on AC infrastructure, a number of technical solutions were proposed and developed. The proposed High Speed 2 development of Euston Station required DC infrastructure to be removed. In this work, changeover options for DC trains are investigated taking into consideration infrastructure changes, rolling stock changes and new technologies. The different design options have been evaluated using Arcadis simulator technology in order to assess their feasibility. It was concluded that an option which requires the least infrastructure installation and changes to existing arrangements meant minimal work on the railway and minimum disruptive and possessions. This paper presents the investigations undertaken and the theoretical assessment of the proposed solutions.
