In this paper, we present an overview of the cruising AUVs (called “C-AUV3” and “C-AUV4” in this paper) recently developed by National Maritime Research Institute of Japan. The sea trials were conducted in Suruga bay so as to test the performance of new AUV. The results show the high performance of “C-AUV3 and 4” as a technique for investigation of seabed mineral resources.
