The driving system is one of the most important parts of the high-speed maglev train system. The reconnection electromagnetic launch (REL) system has the advantages of non-contact, good stability and suitable for large mass load. When it is applied to the maglev train, it can reduce the weight of the train, and accelerate the train to reach the high-speed operation state, which can solve the problem of speed limit provided by the linear motor to the train. The feasibility of REL driving high-speed maglev train is explored. Firstly, the development status of maglev train and reconnection gun and the working principle of REL are introduced. Secondly, the basic model of REL driving maglev train is established, simulating the motion of single-pair-wing single-stage drive train and five-pair-wing single-stage drive train, and taking into account the acceleration that makes people comfortable and exploring driving methods that can reduce thrust fluctuations. Finally, a summary is made that the reconnection gun has the potential to accelerate the mass train to high speed, and the train can be accelerated smoothly by optimizing the structure and parameters.
