The increasing number of accidents on roadways is largely due to driver weariness caused by sleep issues. The main goal of this paper is to improve a system that detects driver fatigue symptoms and controls vehicle speed to avoid accidents. Use of ATMega328p has been made as our microcontroller, Ultrasonic Sensor for object or vehicle detection, MQ3 Sensor for alcohol detection, GPS module to send location coordinates, Image processing to detect lanes and drivers’ drowsiness. The main objective is to first design a system for detecting drowsiness of the driver by continuously monitoring the eye. Also using the MQ3 sensor drunkenness of the driver can be monitored. The system functions in a variety of lighting conditions and even while the driver is wearing spectacles. Then if the driver is drowsy, unconscious or drunk, the system will buzz an alarm and using lane detection and vehicle detection, the car will automatically be brought to a halt at the corner of the road. This system will be helpful to innumerable individuals who experience drowsiness while driving and will help reduce many road accidents and thus saving many lives.
