In air conditioners with single rotor compressors, excessive periodic load disturbance always leads to noise and vibration, since the speed fluctuates. This paper proposes a position-based periodic disturbance observer (PDOB) in permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) controller for speed ripple minimization, aiming at periodic load operations in air-conditioning compressors. A disturbance observer recorded by angular position is employed to avoid weak notch effects due to fractional delay issue in time domain. In addition, this paper develops a fuzzy-logic controller based on periodic speed ripple to acquire the compensation current while considering time delay. The performance of the proposed method has been verified by simulation results.
