Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), as an interface — offering services of Cospas-Sarsat worldwide plays an essential role in Search and Rescue mission. Regrettably, EPIRBs have a high rate of false activations which may cause — unnecessary expense of Search and Rescue activities. In this paper, — while analyzing the false alert rate and the cost on it, an approach towards improving the EPIRBs is presented. By using the onboard system and equipment to monitor the EPIRBs signal, the vessel crew can see and control the alarm through a user-friendly LCD display interface. The false alarm rate of EPIRB can be reduced effectively.
