Teleoperated Driving is the technology that allow cars to be fully or partially controlled by remote human driver. This requires reliable wireless connectivity that can convey bidirectional real time information including traffic data, nearby objects and steering commands between the car and the remote driver. In This paper we studied the feasibility of Teleopearted Driving over cellular networks in Egypt. We conducted data collection from a major road in Cairo. Data consists of nearly thirty-four thousand record of downlink throughput, uplink throughput and latency records along the tested road. We compared the measured values against Teleoperated Driving requirements and concluded that, 4G technology availability is a must to operate Teleoperated driving, and Varying radio conditions could be a show- stopper achieving the required latency in certain spots. Furthermore, we proposed a switching technique to keep the car always connected to the best available network in each part of the road. The proposed approach proved to increase Teleoperated Driving feasibility over cellular in the measured road from 48% to 76%.
