An investigation of the transport phenomena of the compressed and uncompressed carbon cloth gas diffusion layer (GDL) based on the integration of X-ray micro-tomography and Lattice Boltzmann (LB) simulation is presented. Compressive stress decreases the thickness of GDL, electrical conductivity, permeability, and affects the pores. In the present paper, we have addressed the effects of stress on pore structure of cloth based GDL. And also research on the fluid flows were driven by applying a pressure gradient in both the through-plane and the in-plane directions of uncompressed and compressed carbon cloth GDLs, the simulated velocity filed at pore scale will be used to estimate the fluid transport in the GDLs.
