A method for monitoring an object in a compartment of a vehicle. The method includes generating, via a time-of-flight sensor, a point cloud representing the compartment of the vehicle. The point cloud includes three-dimensional positional information of the compartment. The method further includes determining, via processing circuitry in communication to the time-of-flight sensor, a shape of the object based on the point cloud. The method further includes classifying the object as an occupant based on the shape. The method further includes identifying a body segment of the occupant. The method further includes comparing the body segment to target keypoints corresponding to a target attribute for the body segment. The method further includes determining a condition of the occupant based on the comparison of the body segment to the target keypoints. The method further includes generating an output based on the determined condition.
