A system and method of regulating ice formation at the platform. The system includes an electromagnetic source at a first location on the platform configured to generate a radio frequency wave and a waveguide extending from the first location to a second location of the platform. A processor is configured to control operation of the electromagnetic source to generate a radio frequency wave. The radio frequency wave propagates along the waveguide. Power from the radio frequency wave regulates ice formation at a selected location along the waveguide.
