A system and method of regulating ice formation at the platform (100). The system includes an electromagnetic source (112) at a first location (108) on the platform (100) configured to generate a radio frequency wave and a waveguide (106) extending from the first location (108) to a second location (110) of the platform (100). A processor is configured to control operation of the electromagnetic source (112) to generate a radio frequency wave. The radio frequency wave propagates along the waveguide (106). Power from the radio frequency wave regulates ice formation at a selected location along the waveguide (106).
