The purpose of the present invention is to provide a gripping mechanism capable of stably gripping transportation articles of various sizes.A gripping mechanism 10 is attached to a mobile body to grip and convey a transportation article. The gripping mechanism 10 includes a pinion 20 provided so as to be rotatable about a rotation axis AX, and a first arm 12 and a second arm 14 disposed with the rotation axis being the center thereof so as to be separated from the rotation axis by the same distance in order to grip the transportation article. When the pinion 20 rotates in a predetermined direction, the first arm 12 and the second arm 14 move toward the rotation axis AX.
