An article transport device (1) is provided with: a first moving body (100) that moves in a road surface direction (D) along a road surface (F) by the power of a drive source (103); a second moving body (200) that is movable in the road surface direction with respect to the first moving body, and that, when the first moving body moves in the road surface direction, receives an external force from the first moving body, moves together with the first moving body in the road surface direction, and conveys a placed article (W); and adjustment units (T1, T2, T3) that adjust the range in which the second moving body can move in the road surface direction with respect to the first moving body.
