The present invention provides a power generation device for a direct current propulsion ship based on direct current power and a control method thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a power generation device for a direct current propulsion ship comprises a synchronous generator that generates an AC voltage, an active front end (AFE) converter that is connected to an output terminal of the synchronous generator and converts the AC voltage into a DC voltage, and an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) that controls field current so that the magnetic flux of the stator of the synchronous generator is maintained at a constant magnetic flux. A sensor for measuring the rotational speed of the synchronous generator may be omitted.
본 발명은 직류 전력 기반의 직류 추진 선박용 발전 장치 및 이의 제어 방법을 제공하기 위한 것으로, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 직류 추진 선박용 발전 장치는 교류 전압을 발생시키는 동기 발전기, 상기 동기 발전기의 출력단에 연결되어 상기 교류 전압을 직류 전압으로 변환하는 액티브 프론트 엔드(Active Front End, AFE) 컨버터, 및 상기 동기 발전기의 고정자의 자속이 일정 자속으로 유지되도록 계자 전류를 제어하는 자동 전압 조정기(Automatic Voltage Regulator, AVR)를 포함하고, 상기 동기 발전기의 회전 속도를 측정하는 센서가 생략될 수 있다.
