The invention relates to the field of fluid machinery, in particular to a propulsion device for ships, which comprises a casing, an outlet flow guide cover and an inlet flow guide cover, the outlet flow guide cover and the inlet flow guide cover are arranged at two ends of the casing, a driving shaft extending into the casing is mounted at the position, close to the middle of the casing, of the casing, and a driving bevel gear is mounted at one end, located in the casing, of the driving shaft. The driving bevel gear is connected with a first driven bevel gear and a second driven bevel gear in an engaged mode. The first driven bevel gear is in shaft connection with one end of a first roller wheel arranged in the casing through a first transmission shaft, and a first pyramid is installed at the end, close to the inlet flow guide cover, of the first roller wheel. The second driven bevel gear is in shaft connection with one end of a second roller wheel arranged in the casing through a second transmission shaft, and a second pyramid is installed at the end, close to the outlet flow guide cover, of the second roller wheel.
