The present invention is to provide a method and device for accurately estimating the state of charge of a battery using the recursive least squares (RLS) method and the extended Kalman filter (EKF). A battery state of charge estimation method includes the steps of: sensing voltage and current of the battery to generate a voltage present value and a current present value; determining a reference open circuit voltage value based on the state of charge estimation value; estimating first to third parameter values from the voltage present value, the reference open circuit voltage value, the current present value, and the current previous value using a recursive least squares (RLS) method; and determining a next state of charge estimation value of the battery from the state of charge estimation value, the voltage present value, the reference open circuit voltage value, the current present value, the current previous value, and the first to third parameter values using an extended Kalman filter. According to the present invention, the limitation of having to perform preliminary temperature experiments multiple times to analyze changes in battery characteristics according to the external temperature can be overcome, thereby reducing the time and effort for preliminary experiments.

    본 발명의 배터리의 충전 상태를 추정하는 방법에 따르면, 상기 배터리의 전압 및 전류를 감지하여 전압 현재 값(Vt(k))과 전류 현재 값(IL(k))이 생성된다. 충전 상태 추정값(SOC(k))에 기초하여 기준 개방 전압 값(VOC,ref(k))이 결정된다. 재귀적 최소 자승법(RLS, Recursive Least Squares)을 이용하여 상기 전압 현재 값(Vt(k)), 상기 기준 개방 전압 값(VOC,ref(k)), 상기 전류 현재 값(IL(k)), 및 전류 이전 값(IL(k-1))으로부터 제1 내지 제3 파라미터 값들(α1(k), α2(k), α3(k))이 추정된다. 확장 칼만 필터(EKF, Extended Kalman Filter)를 이용하여 상기 충전 상태 추정값(SOC(k)), 상기 전압 현재 값(Vt(k)), 상기 기준 개방 전압 값(VOC,ref(k)), 상기 전류 현재 값(IL(k)), 상기 전류 이전 값(IL(k-1)), 및 상기 제1 내지 제3 파라미터 값들(α1(k), α2(k), α3(k))로부터 상기 배터리의 충전 상태 다음 추정값(SOC(k+1))이 결정된다.
