The present invention relates to an indirect tire pressure monitoring apparatus and a method thereof. The indirect tire pressure monitoring apparatus comprises: a wheel speed sensor which detects a wheel speed; a reset switch which receives a reset command to recalibrate a reference value of an indicator used to determine decompression; and a control unit which recalibrates the reference value of the indicator according to the wheel speed when the reset command is received from the reset switch. When the reset command is received, the control unit determines whether a tire pressure is depressurized by comparing the reference value of the indicator and a current value, and prohibits recalibration of the reference value of the indicator if the tire pressure is depressurized. Provided are the indirect tire pressure monitoring apparatus which can prevent erroneous detection of tire pressure, and the method thereof.

    간접식 타이어 압력 모니터링 장치는 휠 속도를 검출하는 휠 속도센서와, 감압 판정에 이용되는 지표의 기준값을 재보정하기 위한 리셋 명령을 입력받는 리셋 스위치 및 리셋 스위치로부터 리셋 명령이 수신된 경우 휠 속도에 따라 지표의 기준값을 재보정하는 제어부를 포함하고, 제어부는 리셋 명령이 수신된 경우, 지표의 기준값과 현재값을 비교하여 타이어 공기압이 감압된 상태인지를 판단하고, 감압된 경우 지표의 기준값을 재보정하는 것을 금지시킨다.
