간접식 타이어 압력 모니터링 장치 및 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 간접식 타이어 압력 모니터링 장치는 차량의 제1 바퀴의 제1 휠 속도를 검출하는 제1 휠 속도센서와, 차량의 제2 바퀴의 제2 휠 속도를 검출하는 제2 휠 속도센서 및 학습 구간에서 제1 휠 속도센서로부터 검출된 제1 휠 속도신호를 이용하여 추정된 제1 기준 공진주파수와, 감지 구간에서 제1 휠 속도센서로부터 검출된 제1 휠 속도신호를 이용하여 추정된 제1 공진주파수 사이의 제1 공진주파수 차이를 산출하고, 학습 구간에서 제2 휠 속도센서로부터 검출된 제2 휠 속도신호를 이용하여 추정된 제2 기준 공진주파수와, 감지 구간에서 제2 휠 속도센서로부터 검출된 제2 휠 속도신호를 이용하여 추정된 제2 공진주파수 사이의 제2 공진주파수 차이를 산출하고, 산출된 제1 공진주파수 차이 및 제2 공진주파수 차이에 따라 타이어 감압모델별 확률을 결정하고, 결정된 타이어 감압모델별 확률을 근거로 타이어의 감압상태를 판단하는 전자제어유닛을 포함한다.

    Disclosed are an indirect tire pressure monitoring apparatus and a method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the indirect tire pressure monitoring apparatus comprises: a first wheel speed sensor which detects a first wheel speed of a first wheel of a vehicle; a second wheel speed sensor which detects a second wheel speed of a second wheel of the vehicle; and an electronic control unit which calculates a first resonant frequency difference between a first reference resonant frequency, which is estimated by using a first wheel speed signal detected from the first wheel speed sensor in a learning section, and a first resonant frequency, which is estimated by using the first wheel speed signal detected from the first wheel speed sensor in a detection section, and calculates a second resonant frequency difference between a second reference resonant frequency, which is estimated by using a second wheel speed signal detected from the second wheel speed sensor in the learning section, and a second resonant frequency, which is estimated by using the second wheel speed signal detected from the second wheel speed sensor, thereby determining a probability for each tire pressure-reducing model in accordance with the first resonant frequency difference and the second resonant frequency difference, which are calculated above, and determining the pressure-reducing status of the tire based on the determined probability for each tire pressure-reducing model. The present invention aims to provide an indirect tire pressure monitoring apparatus and method thereof, which are able to more accurately and reliably determine the pressure-reducing status.
