The present invention relates to a method for controlling an onboard power generation system of a ship using a rotor sail, comprising steps of: determining a driving condition of the rotor sail control unit; rotating a rotor; measuring an RPM of the rotor; firstly determining whether the RPM of the rotor exceeds a set value; proceeding to a rotor sail driving mode or a power generation mode; controlling rotor blades; measuring the RPM of the rotor in a rotor sail control unit; and secondarily determining, in the rotor sail control unit, whether or not the RPM of the rotor exceeds a set value for power generation.
