The present invention relates to a system and a method to cool a high voltage battery and, more specifically, relates to a system and a method to cool a high voltage battery, capable of keeping optimal a heating degree of a high voltage battery by controlling a cooling fan motor based on operation information of an air conditioner and startup information of a vehicle in the event of malfunction in controller area network (CAN) communication with a battery management system (BMS). To achieve the purpose, the system includes: an air conditioner pressure transducer (APT) outputting signals indicating whether to start a vehicle and whether to operate an air conditioner; a cooling fan motor controller controlling a cooling fan motor based on the signals, outputted from the APT, in the event of malfunction in CAN communication; and the cooling fan motor cooling the high voltage battery of the vehicle.

    본 발명은 고전압 배터리 냉각 시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로, BMS(Battery Management System)와의 CAN(Controller Area Network) 통신에 이상이 발생한 경우, 차량의 시동정보와 에어컨디셔너의 작동정보를 기반으로 쿨링팬모터를 제어함으로써, 고전압 배터리의 발열 정도를 최적의 상태로 유지할 수 있는 고전압 배터리 냉각 시스템 및 그 방법을 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위하여, 본 발명은 고전압 배터리 냉각 시스템에 있어서, 차량의 시동 여부와 에어컨디셔너의 작동 여부를 나타내는 신호를 출력하는 APT(Air conditioner Pressure Transducer); CAN 통신 오류 시, 상기 APT로부터의 출력신호를 기반으로 쿨링팬모터를 제어하는 쿨링팬모터 제어기; 및 차량의 고전압 배터리를 냉각시키는 상기 쿨링팬모터를 포함한다.
