본 발명은 전방 차량 충돌 경고 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 내비게이션 장치 또는 스마트 단말의 카메라를 통해 촬영하는 전방 영상에서 감지한 전방 차량의 후미(後尾)에서 전방 차량의 양단(兩端)을 대표하는 복수의 특징점을 추출함으로써 특징점 간 간격 변화 값을 기초로 전방 차량과의 상대 속도, 상대 거리 중 하나 이상을 산출하도록 하여 별도의 충돌 경고 장치의 장착 없이 저렴한 비용으로 전방 차량과의 충돌 경고를 용이하게 제공하며 눈, 비, 악천후와 같은 열악한 주행 상황에서도 상대 속도의 측정 및 충돌 경고의 정확도가 매우 높으며, 주행 시간 경과에 따른 특징점 간의 간격의 변화 값을 주기적으로 계산하여 상대 속도를 산출함으로써 주행 상황에 적합한 순간 상대 속도를 정확히 산출하도록 하여 서행 또는 지체와 같은 주행 상황에서도 상대 속도 및 상대 거리에 대한 측정 정확도가 더욱 증가하고, 특징점 간의 간격의 변화 값을 근거로 상대 속도를 산출함으로써 차량 간 거리가 매우 근접한 경우라도 정확한 순간 상대 속도를 산출하도록 하여 근접 거리에 존재하는 전방 차량에 대한 충돌 경고의 효율성이 증가한다.

    The present invention relates to a forward vehicle collision warning device and a forward vehicle collision warning method. More specifically, the present invention relates to a forward vehicle collision warning device and a forward vehicle collision warning method capable of extracting a plurality of feature points which represent both ends of a forward vehicle from the rear end of the forward vehicle when the rear end of the forward vehicle is detected from a forward image photographed by the camera of a navigation device or a smart terminal, such that at least one of a relative speed and a relative distance against the forward vehicle can be calculated based on the varied values of the distance between the feature points, thereby easily and inexpensively providing a collision warning against the forward vehicle without an extra collision warning device and improve the accuracy in measuring the relative speed and the collision warning even in poor driving conditions such as a snowy weather, a rainy weather, and a bad weather. In addition, the forward vehicle collision warning device and the forward vehicle collision warning method are capable of calculating the relative speed by cyclically calculating the variation values of the distances between the feature points according to the elapse driving time such that an instantaneous relative speed suitable for a driving condition can accurately be calculated, thereby improving more the accuracy in measuring the relative speed and the relative distance even in a driving condition such as slow driving or congestion. Furthermore, the forward vehicle collision warning device and the forward vehicle collision warning method are capable of calculating the relative speed based on the variation values of the distances between the feature points such that the instantaneous relative speed can accurately be calculated even if a distance between a vehicle and the forward vehicle thereof is very small, thereby improving efficiency in the collision warning against the adjacent forward vehicle.
