To provide a flying object and an automatic charging device for solving a problem in which conventional flying objects with a propulsion system are susceptible to damage at the time of landing or crash, fracture in a collision with an obstacle, cannot takeoff without landing in an appropriate attitude, and only have a short flight time.SOLUTION: A flying object comprises: a fixed shaft that is fixed on the right and left of a flying object body; and protection frames that three-dimensionally cover the flying object body (specifically a propulsion unit) and that are connected to rotational parts mounted on both ends of the fixed shaft. The protection frames rotate independently and freely. A contour part of the protection frame has a structure for obtaining a buoyant force. A weight is mounted in order to land in an appropriate attitude. In this way, the flying object body and on-board devices are protected even when the flying object lands or accidentally falls in any attitude, so that it can self-supportedly take a desirable attitude so as to easily take off again. The flying object is excellent in safety, operability, and power saving, being able not only to fly but also to move omnidirectionally on land and on the water.
