To provide a power unit for a two-wheeled vehicle that is suitable for use on a street or on a road with many slopes and improves comfort when riding, and to provide a method for mounting the power unit on a conventional product.SOLUTION: A power unit includes: an electric motor 1; a drive unit 2 having a clutch mechanism 23; and a transmission unit 4 that constantly increases a speed of an output of the electric motor 1 and transmits the output to the clutch mechanism. A method for mounting a connection device X includes: a support step of mounting a bracket 3 for holding the electric motor 1, on the drive unit 2; and a transmission-unit mounting step of connecting the transmission unit 4 for transmitting power output from the electric motor 1 to the drive unit 2, to a drive mechanism D in the drive unit 2 so as to constantly increase the speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
