To provide an automatic parking system and a control method for an automatic parking system that can reduce the time required for vehicle replacement by eliminating the need to evacuate other vehicles with different vehicle attributes than an outgoing vehicle when the outgoing vehicle is being released from a parking area.SOLUTION: A parking lot has a parking area with a plurality of parking spaces arranged in longitudinal and parallel directions. An automatic parking system acquires vehicle attributes of a vehicle subject to automatic parking. Based on the vehicle attributes, a parking sub-area, which is at least a part of the parking area, is set according to the vehicle attributes. A priority order of the parking spaces in the parking sub-area for parking the vehicle subject to automatic parking is set based on location information of the parking spaces within the parking sub-area. A target parking space, which is a target parking space where the vehicle subject to automatic parking is parked, is determined based on availability information of the parking spaces in the parking sub-area and the priority order.     【課題】駐車エリアから出庫車両を出庫させる際、出庫車両とは異なる車両属性を有する他の車両の退避の不要化を図り、車両の入れ替えに要する時間の低減を図ることができる自動駐車システム及び自動駐車システムの制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】駐車場は、複数の駐車スペースが縦列方向及び並列方向に並設された駐車エリアを有する。自動駐車システムは、自動駐車対象車両の車両属性を取得する。車両属性に基づいて、駐車エリアの少なくとも一部のエリアである駐車サブエリアを車両属性に応じて設定する。駐車サブエリア内の駐車スペースの位置情報に基づいて、駐車サブエリア内で自動駐車対象車両を駐車させる駐車スペースの優先順位を設定する。駐車サブエリア内の駐車スペースの空き情報及び優先順位に基づいて、自動駐車対象車両を駐車させる目標となる駐車スペースである目標駐車スペースを決定する。目標駐車スペースに自動駐車対象車両を駐車させる。【選択図】図11
