To assist a vehicle to come out a traffic lane and enter into outside area of the traffic lane to avoid a collision with an obstacle, and suppress the vehicle to be deviated from the outside area of the traffic lane.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device controlling a vehicle comprises: first detection means which detects a traffic lane outside area which is an outside area of a traffic lane where a vehicle is traveling; second detection means which detects an obstacle; guiding means which starts guiding the vehicle into the traffic lane outside area when the traffic lane outside area is detected by the first detection means, and an obstacle is detected by the second detection means; and steering control means which determines excess or deficiency of avoidance steering to avoid collision with the obstacle by the operator who obeys the guidance of the guiding means, and performs steering support according to the excess degree or the deficiency degree.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
