To improve reliability of a rotary transmission device capable of switching between transmission and interruption of rotation between first and second rotating bodies depending on whether or not they are engaged with a third rotating body, by the axial movement of the third rotating body depending on the energization state of an electromagnet.SOLUTION: Retaining means 40 of axially supporting an end surface 39a of a bearing 7 interposed between an electromagnet 6 and a first rotating body 2 prevents displacement of the bearing 7 with respect to the electromagnet 6 in the direction opposite to an insertion direction. Also, a diameter D1 of a sealing surface 42 in contact with a seal 41 of a shaft 15 of a second rotating body 3 is made smaller than a diameter D2 of a fitting surface 42 with a bearing 8. An armature 19 contacts over one third of a radial dimension given to a side surface 25 of a rotor 5. A gap 21 is provided between a base 18 of a third rotating body 3 and the armature 19.
