To provide a portable terminal position estimation method, a portable terminal position estimation device and a portable terminal position estimation system, with which it is possible to improve the accuracy of distance measurement while heightening a computation speed.SOLUTION: Provided is a portable terminal position estimation method for estimating the position of a portable terminal by communication performed between three or more communication instruments installed in a vehicle and a portable terminal existing in the surrounding of the vehicle. This method includes: an acquisition step in which a plurality of communication instruments communicate with a portable terminal and acquires distance information between the communication instruments and the portable terminal and the intensity information of a radio wave; a communication allowability determination step in which it is determined that communication is allowed when the distance information is smaller than or equal to a first prescribed value and the intensity information is greater than or equal to a second prescribed value; and an estimation step in which a portable terminal search range is narrowed down on the basis of distance information from a communication instrument the distance information of which is smallest among the three or more communication instruments having been determined in the communication allowability determination step that communication is allowed, and the position of the portable terminal is estimated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
