To solve a problem that oxygen is stored in a three-way catalyst when fresh air is discharged to an exhaust pipe at the time of stopping an engine, so that enrichment injection is required, resulting in deterioration of fuel economy and exhaust gas.SOLUTION: An ECU 102 includes: a state determination part 301 for determining a state change of an engine; and an intake valve phase change part 302 that, on the basis of map information 321, phase change information read from the map information 321 and an engine state change determined by the state determination part, in the middle of changing a phase of an intake valve from a reference position to a target position through a VTC 40, makes a first phase change speed for changing the phase of the intake valve near an intermediate position lower than a second phase change speed used to change the phase from the reference position to the vicinity of the intermediate position, and after the lapse of an intermediate holding period, changes the phase of the intake valve from the vicinity of the intermediate position to the target position at a third phase change speed that is higher than the first phase change speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】エンジンの停止に際して、新気が排気管に排出されると三元触媒に酸素が貯蔵されるため、エンリッチ噴射が必要となり、燃費と排気の悪化が生じていた。【解決手段】ECU102は、エンジンの状態変化を判定する状態判定部301と、マップ情報321と、マップ情報321から読み出した位相変更情報、及び状態判定部が判定したエンジンの状態変化に基づいて、VTC40を通じて吸気弁の位相を基準位置から目標位置に変更する途中に、中間位置の付近で吸気弁の位相を変更する第1位相変更速度を、基準位置から中間位置の付近に変更するまでの第2位相変更速度よりも低下させ、中間保持期間の経過後に第1位相変更速度よりも高い第3位相変更速度で吸気弁の位相を中間位置の付近から目標位置に変更する吸気弁位相変更部302と、を備える。【選択図】図3
