To provide a structurally simple and highly durable brake gear for a caster, which can obtain a reliable brake and which has no risk of doing damage to a peripheral surface of a wheel.SOLUTION: A plurality of protrusions 19 are formed in a direction parallel to a shaft core at regular intervals on the same core, on both side surfaces of a wheel 7. Both side plates 5b and 5b of a fork 5 have a lever 16 installed to face the protrusion astride the wheel. A claw 16a is formed to face the protrusion, at the tip of the lever. The rotation of the wheel is locked by operating the lever and engaging the claw with a recess 19b that is formed between the protrusions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
