To achieve proper activation of a lateral airbag under conditions where a front airbag is deployed, from a standpoint of occupant protection.SOLUTION: An airbag deployment method includes: a step B2 of detecting longitudinal acceleration that is negative acceleration in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle and lateral acceleration that is acceleration in a lateral direction of the vehicle; a step of controlling deployment of a front airbag on the basis of the longitudinal acceleration; steps B3, B4 and B7 of calculating a deployment threshold of a lateral airbag on the basis of the longitudinal acceleration; and steps B5, B6 and B8 of deploying the lateral airbag when the lateral acceleration is the deployment threshold or above. The steps of calculating the deployment threshold have a process B7 in which the deployment threshold is set higher when the longitudinal acceleration becomes higher, in the case where the front airbag is deployed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
