To reliably deploy a lateral airbag with no malfunction not only in the case of a side collision of a vehicle but also in the case of a diagonal collision thereof.SOLUTION: An airbag deployment method includes: a step B2 of detecting longitudinal acceleration that is acceleration in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle and lateral acceleration that is acceleration in a lateral direction of the vehicle; steps B3, B4 and B7 of calculating a deployment threshold of a lateral airbag on the basis of the longitudinal acceleration; and steps B5, B6 and B8 of deploying the lateral airbag when the lateral acceleration is the deployment threshold or above.
