To obtain a vehicle control device and a vehicle control method that cope with a driver's preference and realize safe automatic travel of a vehicle.SOLUTION: The vehicle control method includes: based on a camera video of a front camera 21, detecting the shape and a road width of a traffic lane in which a vehicle is traveling by a traffic lane information detection unit 11; detecting a current lateral position indicating the position of the vehicle in the width direction of the lane in which the vehicle is currently traveling by a current lateral position detection unit 12; setting a driver correspondence lateral position that corresponds to a driver's driving tendency by a driver correspondence lateral position set unit 13; further, according to the road width, setting upper and lower limits that may be reached by the driver correspondence lateral position by an upper and lower limit setting unit 15; and thereafter, if a change in the road width is detected, computing, by a lateral position control quantity computing unit 14, a quantity of lateral position control for the vehicle from the current lateral position of the vehicle such that the driver correspondence lateral position within the upper and lower limits reflecting this change is used as a target lateral position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】ドライバの好みに適応し、かつ安全な車両の自動走行を実現する車両用制御装置および車両用制御方法を得る。【解決手段】前方カメラ21のカメラ映像に基づき、車線情報検出部11により、車両の走行車線の形状および道路幅を検出し、現在横位置検出部12により、走行車線の幅方向における、現在走行中の車両の位置を示す現在横位置を検出し、ドライバ対応横位置設定部13により、ドライバの運転傾向に対応したドライバ対応横位置を設定し、さらに上下限値設定部15により、道路幅に応じて、ドライバ対応横位置の取り得る上下限値を設定したのち、横位置制御量演算部14により、道路幅の変化が検出された場合に、この変化が反映された上下限値内のドライバ対応横位置を目標横位置とし、車両の現在横位置からの車両の横位置制御量を演算するようにした。【選択図】図1
