To provide an occupant protection device configured such that an airbag can completely inflate quickly and the airbag completely inflated can secure stable reaction force in receiving an occupant.SOLUTION: The occupant protection device comprises an airbag 20 that is folded back and stored in front of a seated occupant OP in a vehicle 1 and expands and inflates rearward from a storage site 12 so as to be able to receive the occupant when gas G for inflation flows in. The airbag includes a bag main body 21 and a connection material 35. The bag main body, formed in a loop shape, includes an upper part 31 and a lower part 30 that branch an inflation completed shape vertically from an opening for inflow 23 side, and has a rear part 32 connecting rear ends 31a and 30a of the upper part and the lower part to each other. The connection material 35, arranged between the upper part 31 and the lower part 30, connects the upper part 31 to the lower part 30 so as to regulate a separation distance L1 between the upper part 31 and the lower part 30 when the inflation is completed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】エアバッグが、迅速に膨張を完了でき、かつ、膨張完了後のエアバッグが乗員受止時に安定した反力を確保できる乗員保護装置を提供すること。【解決手段】車両1における着座した乗員OPの前方側に折り畳まれて収納され、膨張用ガスGの流入時に、乗員を受止可能に、収納部位12から後方側に展開膨張するエアバッグ20を備える。エアバッグは、バッグ本体21と連結材35とを備える。バッグ本体は、膨張完了形状を、流入用開口23側から上下に分岐する上側部31と下側部30とを備えるとともに、上側部と下側部との後端31a,30a相互を連結する後側部32を備えたループ状とする。連結材35は、上側部31と下側部30との間に配設されて、膨張完了時の上側部31と下側部30と離隔距離L1を規制するように、上側部31と下側部30とを連結する。【選択図】図1
