To provide a vehicle periphery image generation device which improves visibility of a three-dimensional object in an overlapping range.SOLUTION: A camera ECU 30 (vehicle periphery image generation device) includes an image conversion part 31, a three-dimensional object detection part 32 and an image synthesis part 34, in which the image conversion part 31 converts each of a front image P1, a rear image P2, a right side image P3 and a left side image P4 that have been photographed by each cameras 11 to 14 into each of a front overhead view image P1, a rear overhead view image P2, a right side overhead view image P3 and a left side overhead view image P4, the three-dimensional object detection part 32 detects a three-dimensional object on the basis of each of the overhead view images P1, P2, P3 and P4, and the image synthesis part 34 includes a weighting coefficient setting part 35 which sets a weighting coefficient of two overhead view images forming each of blend images P13B, P14B, P23B and P24B.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
