To provide an automatic braking device in which such a problem that an obstacle is erroneously determined as an oncoming vehicle can be suppressed.SOLUTION: The automatic braking device determining possibility of collision with an obstacle and performing automatic braking is provided that comprises: information acquisition means which acquires a distance to the obstacle, a relative speed of an own vehicle and the obstacle, and a speed of the own vehicle; an oncoming vehicle determination part 22 which determines whether the obstacle is an oncoming vehicle or not by comparing a calculated value which is on the basis of the relative speed and the speed of the own vehicle with a determination threshold; and a threshold setting part 222 which sets the determination threshold according to the distance to the obstacle and the speed of the own vehicle. Automatic control is regulated when it is determined by the oncoming vehicle determination part 22 that the obstacle is an oncoming vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
