To provide a driving device for a passenger transport device capable of effectively preventing a brake disc from being coated with an oil.SOLUTION: In a driving device 10 for a passenger transport device, a motor 20 and a reduction gear 40 are interlocked in such a manner that power is transmitted. The reduction gear includes a shaft 42 penetrating a shaft cover 44 which is attached to a reduction gear frame 41. A brake disc 52 is mounted in a distal end of the shaft, a brake device 50 for braking with the brake disc is provided in the reduction gear frame together, and a lubricant is injected into the reduction gear frame. The driving device for the passenger transport device comprises an oil relief mechanism 60 including a step part 62 which is formed at a position facing the shaft cover of the shaft and of which the diameter is reduced towards the brake device, and an oil relief hole 64 which is opened at a lower side of the shaft cover while penetrating downwards.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
