To attain improvement in fuel consumption efficiency.SOLUTION: A control method for a vehicle controls a vehicle comprising: a communication part for acquiring traffic signal change information indicating a change of a traffic signal on a predetermined traveling road; a camera which acquires image information around the vehicle; a distance calculation part which calculates a distance from a present location to a next traffic intersection on the predetermined traveling road; and a display part which displays information for a driver. The control method includes: using the traffic signal change information and the distance to the traffic intersection calculated by the distance calculation part to calculate such a passing vehicle speed that the vehicle passes the traffic intersection while the traffic signal of a direction of travel in the traffic intersection is blue; in a case where it is indicated in the image information that the traffic signal of the direction of travel is red, calculating a recommended vehicle speed pattern for a change such an allowable vehicle speed allowable for the driver that the vehicle speed becomes lower as the distance to the traffic intersection becomes shorter, from the passing vehicle speed to such an allowable vehicle speed allowable for the driver that the vehicle speed becomes lower as the distance to the traffic intersection becomes shorter, in timing that the allowable vehicle speed is lower than the passing vehicle speed; and displaying an indication urging the driver to drive in accordance with the recommended vehicle speed pattern on the display part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14

    【課題】燃費の向上を図る。【解決手段】車両の制御方法は、走行予定経路にある信号機の変化を示す信号機変化情報を取得する通信部と、車両周囲の画像情報を取得するカメラと、現在地から走行予定経路にある次の交差点までの距離を算出する距離算出部と、運転者に対する情報を表示する表示部と、を備える車両を制御する。制御方法は、信号機変化情報と、距離算出部により算出される交差点までの距離とを用いて、交差点にある進行方向の信号機が青である間に車両が交差点を通過するような通過車速を求め、画像情報に進行方向の信号機が赤であることが示される場合には、交差点までの距離が短くなるほど遅くなるような運転者が許容できる許容車速が、通過車速を下回るタイミングで、通過車速から許容車速に変化する推奨車速パターンを求め、推奨車速パターンに沿った走行を運転者に促す表示を表示部に表示する。【選択図】図14
