To provide a side part vehicle body structure of an automobile capable of suppressing the deterioration of a load transmission efficiency near a center pillar.SOLUTION: A side part vehicle body structure of an automobile is equipped with a first cross member coupling a side sill 4 on a vehicle front side than a center pillar 3. On an inner upper surface portion 424 of the side sill 4, a first plate mounting bracket mounted with a scuff plate is joined at a position in a fore-and-aft direction generally the same as the first cross member, and a member upper surface portion of the first cross member is joined. On a vertical cross section passing through the first cross member, a cross-sectional shape of the inner upper surface portion 424 on a vertical cross section in a vehicle width direction is formed in a cross-sectional shape on which an outside edge end is positioned at a position lower in a vehicle than an inside edge end of an outer upper surface portion 414 of the side sill 4. On a vertical cross section passing through the center pillar 3, it is formed in a cross-sectional shape on which the outside edge end is positioned at a vertical position generally the same as the inside edge end of the outer upper surface portion 414.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
