PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radar device and a target detection method with which it is possible to track a target which could be a pedestrian continuously for a longer time.SOLUTION: A radar device according to an embodiment comprises a detection unit, an extrapolation unit, a count unit, a determination unit and an adjustment unit. The detection unit repeatedly performs detection of a target approaching the own vehicle. The extrapolation unit performs an extrapolation process for predicting on the basis of the previous detection result a virtual position of the target that was not detected by the latest detection. When a target is detected, the count unit adds a fixed value to the count value that indicates the level of possibility that the target is present; when not detected, the count unit subtracts a prescribed value from the count value. The determination unit determines the level of possibility that the target is a pedestrian on the basis of the lateral movement speed, lateral movement amount and lateral position variation of a target present out of a prescribed angle range from the own vehicle. When the target is the object of the extrapolation process, the adjustment unit adjusts a value subtracted from the count value in correspondence to the level of possibility of being a pedestrian.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1D

    【課題】歩行者の可能性がある物標をより長い時間継続して追跡することができるレーダ装置および物標検知方法を提供する。【解決手段】実施形態に係るレーダ装置は、検知部、外挿部、カウント部、判定部、および調整部を備える。検知部は、自車両に接近する物標の検知を繰り返す。外挿部は、今回検知されなかった物標の仮想位置を前回の検知結果に基づき予測する外挿処理を行う。カウント部は、物標が検知された場合に、物標の存在可能性の高さを示すカウント値に一定値を加算し、検知されなかった場合に、カウント値から所定値を減算する。判定部は、自車両から所定角度範囲外に存在する物標の横移動速度、横移動量、および横位置ばらつきに基づき、物標が歩行者である可能性の高さを判定する。調整部は、物標が外挿処理の対象の場合、歩行者である可能性の高さに応じてカウント値から減算する値を調整する。【選択図】図1D
