PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle recognition device and vehicle recognition method capable of recognizing that a vehicle is to move between an own traffic lane and the other traffic lane.SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle control ECU 13 includes: a vehicle detection unit 31 for detecting position information of another vehicle; a partition line detection unit 32 for detecting partition lines on both of right and left sides partitioning a traffic lane where a vehicle travels; and a recognition unit 35 for recognizing an inter-traffic-lane movement of the other vehicle between an own traffic lane where an own vehicle travels and the other traffic lane. The inter-vehicle control ECU 13 includes: a determination unit 33 for determining whether detection of a first partition line is appropriately performed; and an estimation unit 34 for estimating a first partition line on the basis of a second partition line different from the first partition line and a traffic lane width. The recognition unit 35 recognizes an inter-traffic-lane movement on the basis of a first partition line estimated by the estimation unit 34 and position information of the other vehicle when it is determined that detection of a first partition line is not appropriately performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】自車線と他車線との間で車両が移動することを認識することができる車両認識装置及び車両認識方法を提供すること。【解決手段】車間制御ECU13は、他車両の位置情報を検出する車両検出部31と、車両が走行する車線を区画する左右両側の区画線を検出する区画線検出部32と、自車両が走行する自車線と他車線との間における他車両の車線間移動を認識する認識部35と、を備える。また、車間制御ECU13は、第1区画線の検出が適正に行われているか否かを判定する判定部33と、第1区画線とは異なる第2区画線及び車線幅に基づき、第1区画線を推定する推定部34と、を備える。認識部35は、第1区画線の検出が適正に行われていないと判定された場合、推定部34により推定された第1区画線と他車両の位置情報とに基づいて車線間移動を認識する。【選択図】 図1
